At the urging of my sister I joined as an ACN Independent Rep in 1995. With ACN people could save money over the dominant Big Three traditional telecomm carriers. However being curious, I Googled the competition and found another company offering similar savings on long distance, which also included a fair income opportunity, with no signup fee or recurring costs. I was busy working 12 hour days and weekends in a new career, and could not verify personally that the ACN service ws good, so I never even tried to market ACN. Later I did promote Cognigen because it is a known fact that 95% of people who start a business fail. At least I would know they did not lose money trying out the free Cognigen opportunity. The Cognigen commissions were quite a bit smaller than possible from ACN but with Cognigen there was no risk of losing money.

There are many places online where you can find ACN Leads. Just Google “ACN leads” and you’ll see over 1.5 million organic listings. Some lead brokers on Google offer free ACN leads so you could theoretically try them first. But to my knowledge ACN policy prohibits buying Leads - so check with ACN policy first.

The ACN product line consists of digital phone service, local and long distance service plans, wireless phone plans, and internet services. With the internet services you can choose between dial-up or high-speed dsl. To help provide quality with their wireless plans, they created a partnership with two of the top wireless carriers.

When evaluating any opportunity don’t forget to include the high costs of buying leads if that is the primary advertising method being touted. In addition there will likely be a high drop out rate as new members join and come to realize they cannot afford the time and money it costs to effectively manage leads. The older a lead gets the less valuable and as soon as someone else signs them up your investment in that lead is likely lost. Also it is well known that most leads are generated from offering people something for free and unscrupulous lead brokers on Google may sell and resell the same leads dozens of times.

Due to all the technology companies competing there is often low profit margin in telecomm residential services. Another competing technology MLM in which I was a member only payed 6-12% - and they were much better than some others. ACN commissions are higher than most in the technology sector but you need to factor in startup and recurring costs to get the true comparison. In traditional business earning a healthy profit is necessary and normal in order to stay in business. ACN is no different in that respect so you should calculate Gross Sales needed to cover all costs which will leave you with Gross Profit. Buying leads can be one of the higher costs when included over time.

Call me thin-skinned maybe - but I do not want to call angry leads for any opportunity, who are going to be defensive, disturbed, or even hostile in reaction to my phone call. It could be te afternoon where I live but late at night where they live. Maybe they were watching their favorite show, eating a late dinner, or even asleep already. Perhaps they work days, mids, nights - or even work 2-3 jobs these days - so no time is really a good to call them back. Most often leads will screen calls through their answering machines.

It is far better for you as a Marketer if you can drip market to your prospects, establishing some credibility and familiarity, allowing them to contact you when THEY are ready, excited, and open to communicate more freely. You can use Google’s free Gmail from any web browser and establish an account specifically for that purpose. You can even link your Google Gmail account to your PDA so you can get notified by Gmail via text message wherever you are immediately of a new inquiry to your drip marketing campaign.
